The Hong Kong West Drainage project comprises of a single 10.2km long hard rock TBM tunnel with a 7.2 ID (Internal Diameter) together with 35 shafts and 35 adits, giving an additional 12km of various diameter tunnels. Due to a tight limit on allowable water ingress, the rock mass ahead of the tunnel face requires injection of a Microfine Cement material to seal any water borne cracks and fissures in the rock strata, prior to the excavation of the rock by the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine). Tam International Hong Kong were asked to carry out site trials long with other competitors, to establish the most suitable material to meet the project requirements. Tam HK and TamCrete MFC both came first in terms of technical service and material performance. |
